Medium Size Taupe Hampton Persian Oriental Area Rug 4×6 Wool
This design is one of the earliest Donegal designs to be woven. The design may be attributed to Gavin Morton. The piece was one of seven presented at the second exhibition of the arts & Crafts society in 1899. This carpet reported on by artist-potter Harold rathbone who said it was “ obviously an attempt to vie with a Turkey carpet, which it successfully does”. There were at least three Donegal designs that were closely on the eastern-Turkish designs.
